Beta terms

Version dated 4 September 2026

EatWell is a free, invitation-controlled UK beta for adults. It helps you log meals in your own words, notice patterns and consider small changes. Its nutrition figures and AI reflections are approximate, can be wrong, and are not medical advice. There is no subscription, payment or minimum commitment in this beta.

That summary helps explain these terms but does not replace them.

These terms have not yet been through completed legal review. They are published so you can read them before you use the beta, and they will be corrected here if that review changes them. Nothing in them reduces a right the law gives you.

1. Who provides EatWell

EatWell is provided personally by Nic Sheen, Weathervane House, LS29 7DP, United Kingdom.

2. Who may use the beta

The beta is for invited adults aged 18 or over who are in the United Kingdom. It is not designed for children and must not be used to log food for a child. Access is personal and may not be sold, shared commercially or used to provide a service to someone else.

3. What the beta provides

EatWell lets you describe and save meals, receive approximate nutrition estimates, correct or delete entries, and optionally receive AI-generated reflections. Features may change during the beta. We will try to explain material changes honestly, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.

4. What EatWell is not

EatWell is a general awareness tool, not a medical device or a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Do not use an estimate or reflection to make an urgent or high-risk health decision. If tracking food is distressing or becoming compulsive, stop using EatWell and seek appropriate support.

Read EatWell's safety and limits.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • use EatWell lawfully and only for yourself;
  • check estimates rather than treating them as measurements;
  • avoid entering another person’s personal information;
  • keep access to your email account and device reasonably secure;
  • not probe, disrupt, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, bypass access controls, or upload malicious or unlawful content; and
  • tell us promptly if you believe your account or EatWell’s security has been compromised.

6. Your content and permitted use

You keep ownership of the meal descriptions and other content you enter. You give EatWell the limited permission needed to store, process and display that content and to send the disclosed parts to its processors so the requested logging and optional reflection features can work. This permission ends when the content is deleted from live systems, subject to the backup and legal retention position in the privacy notice.

You must have the right to submit anything you enter. Do not use EatWell to store confidential, identifying or sensitive information that is not needed to describe a meal.

7. Privacy and device storage

The privacy notice explains what personal data is used, why, where it is processed, how long it is kept and how to exercise your rights. The Cookies and device storage notice explains what EatWell stores on your device.

Those notices form part of the information provided before you use the beta, but your privacy rights are not waived or reduced by these terms.

8. Free beta and future charging

The controlled beta is free. No payment details are requested and no payment is taken. A future paid service would require separate, clearly presented terms, price and cancellation information; joining this beta does not enrol you into it and does not authorise a future charge.

9. Suspension and ending access

You may stop using EatWell whenever you like, and you may delete your account using the control in Profile. You can find it on your Profile page.

We may suspend or end access where reasonably necessary for security, unlawful or seriously abusive use, protection of other people, or ending the beta. Where practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to export your data first.

We will not remove access arbitrarily or use suspension to prevent a legitimate complaint or data-rights request.

10. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights. Subject to that, EatWell is an experimental free service and we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, business losses, or a decision made by treating an approximate estimate as professional advice.

This clause must not be read as reducing any right the law gives you.

11. Changes to these terms

The beta will change. We may update these terms to reflect the service or the law. We will date the new version and bring a material change to your attention before it takes effect. If a change is not acceptable, you may stop using EatWell and delete your account.

12. Complaints, law and courts

Please contact support@simplyeatwell.co.uk first so we can try to resolve a complaint.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, but you keep any mandatory consumer protection available where you live. The courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer law may hear a dispute.
